Visiting the beautiful Medano

A holiday destination for everybody

Medano is a beautiful holiday destination located just 7 kilometers away from Golf del Sur and it became famous due to the fact that it is a small paradise for windsurfers. Medano has long and sandy beaches; it has wonderful, breezy conditions and a great climate that allows water sports lovers to practice windsurfing all year round. Medano represents a pioneer for the tourism in the region, so the building boom hasn’t omitted this city from its list. However, the air is still a tranquil one and the atmosphere is a very relaxed one, so even though the modernity makes its presence felt, the resort still represents an important attraction for tourists from all around Spain and all around the world.

Visiting the city

Medano has an interesting square where people generally go to enjoy the bars and the terraces: the Principe de Asturias Square; located right in the centre of the city, the square joins a beautiful boardwalk that stretches all along the main beach, the one that kept its natural look. The relaxing atmosphere seems to be all around the place, as you will find numerous healthy food shops and a lot of places where you can join a yoga course. Several large, golden beaches surround the city, so if you decide to visit Medano, make sure you are prepared for a nice tan, enjoying the welcoming sun and the warm waters of the sea. If you decide to go to Medano for windsurfing, you should also expect a few sandstorms, because they are pretty often here; when you catch some of these days, it is a wonderful idea to go hiking, either around Montana Pelada or around Montana Roja, the mountain areas that surround the city, offering it spectacular views and landscapes. You should also take some time to visit the villa costa brava Plaza Roja, from where you can follow the alley that will take you to a nice group of fine, quiet beaches perfect for one who doesn’t like the agitation and the big crowds. You can choose Playa de Tejita, which is absolutely perfect for you if you travel with your family, as it is bathed by shallow, yet crystal clear waters and it enjoys fantastic, delicate sand. Medano is the perfect escape for someone who wants to spend a few days enjoying the beauties of nature and the seaside facilities that only Spain has, so try not to miss it!
